DU’s best freshers’ party goes to SRCC

Apart from courses, what is it that makes a college cool? To help you make the choice, HT City conducted a survey of Delhi University’s (DU) colleges. Five hundred students (10 from each of DU’s 50 colleges) were interviewed. The respondents were asked to rate the top three colleges. The survey was conducted by Market Xcel Data Matrix, a market research company. This week, we present the list of the colleges which annually organises the best freshers’ party.

For most first year students, the first glitzy impression of their college is on the night of the freshers’ party. It is then they see that what are the things their college is capable of and just where it disappoints — in terms of organising party-based events, of course.
The winner is... Shri Ram College of Commerce figures at the coveted number one position as far as organising the best freshers’ party is concerned.  The verdict of the survey result is very clear. Almost all who were interviewed said that the freshers’ party of this college is very “entertaining”.  “In Shri Ram College’s freshers’ party, first year students are welcomed very nicely and the party is total fun,” said a respondent. Another student said, “Seniors behave in a very friendly manner to the first year students and the party is total masti.”
The next college that gets the ranking for organising the best freshers’ party is Sri Venkateswara. The reason is straightforward: “Its freshers’ party is very well organised.” While giving his vote to Sri Venkateswara, a respondent said, “Senior students give a very warm welcome to the new students. It feels very good.” Almost all respondents admitted that senior students of this college are very polite and perhaps it is this trait that makes their freshers party so frank, fun, engaging and memorable. “I still remember my freshers party in Sri Venkateswara,” said a senior student of the college. “It was very good and the seniors were very nice to me.”
Hindu College in the North Campus comes third in this list of Delhi University’s best freshers’ party. While most students pointed out that the seniors are friendly in this college, one student said, “Hindu College sometimes organise rain dancing in its freshers’ party and that is super cool.” Another respondent said, “Freshers’ party in Hindu College is excellently celebrated.” Clearly if you get admission in Hindu, you must start counting the days for the freshers’ party.
In this list of best freshers’ parties, Hindu College is followed by Hans Raj College, St Stephen’s College, Ramjas College, Jesus & Mary College, Miranda House College, Kirori Mal College and Lady Shri Ram College for Women.  Most respondents who voted for the Kirori Mal College said, “All seniors there support the freshers.”
The respondent who liked the party of Lady Shri Ram College said, “The parties there are very rocking.” Another student said that the freshers’ party in Lady Sri Ram is “well-organised and disciplined.”
For Miranda House, the respondents uniformly said, “The seniors are lovable.” One student said, “Miranda girls are good in jokes and so the freshers’ party is lot of fun.”
